win doterraI’m sitting here right now with doTerra peppermint diffusing through my house.  Most of the time, I have peppermint and another oil going at all times.  It gives me a little lift and makes the house smell amazing.  It causes my family to pause and take a deep breath by the diffuser.  I love that they love it and I love that it is good for them.

I appreciate everyone who participated in the Purify give away.  Now, you have a chance to win a bottle of doTerra peppermint oil.

How do I use Peppermint essential oil in Cecilia the Shasta?

  • I’ve always heard that peppermint is  a great way to keep mice out of campers.  I don’t know if that is true or not.  Still, I always keep cottonballs with doTerra Peppermint essential oil on them in the camper.  I’ve never seen any signs of mice in the 6 years we have owned Cecilia.  Maybe it is the oil…maybe it isn’t.  I would love to hear how you mice proof your camper!
  • If you read Everything that Went Wrong on Our First Camping Trip, you are already aware that we had a little run in with a bug or two.  Peppermint is a natural bug repellant.  I diffuse it every night we camp…just in case.
  • If anyone gets overheated, they get a drop of doTerra Peppermint on the back of their neck.  It is a great way to cool down.

doTerra’s Suggested Uses

  • Add Peppermint with Lemon in water for a DIY mouth rinse.
  • Take one to two drops in water for occasional stomach upset.
  • Add a drop to a smoothie for a refreshing flavor.
  • Place one drop in palm of hand with one drop Wild Orange and one drop Frankincense and inhale for a pick-me-up.

Enter to Win: doTerra Purify Essential Oil Give Away

Purify essential oil by doTerra has always had a home in Cecilia the Shasta.  I was reminded of this when I found a bottle tucked away in one of her drawers today.  This isn’t a surprise.  We have been using doTerra for 4 years and finding oils tucked away is a frequent occurrence.

Everything that Went Wrong on Our First Camping Trip

Is it even camping if something doesn’t go wrong?

vintage camper

Timehop recently served up a memory of our first camping in Cecilia.  I think the 3 question marks sum up the excitement I felt as I waited for the clock to hit 5 pm.  I had a good laugh when I saw this reminder of my excitement, because six years ago I had no idea that we were in for more bad than good on that trip. 5 Little Camper Tricks and Tips

The lack of space in our camper led to problems on camping trips.  Problems led to learning a few camper tricks to deal with it.  When the couch is made into a bed, we have 4 ft of walking space from the edge of the bed to the kitchenette.  4 ft may be generous.  It is enough space for us to both stand in the camper at the same time.  No one can do anything because you can’t open any door at that point, but you can stand there and stare at each other.  Continue reading “5 Little Camper Tricks and Tips”

Remodeling Our Shasta Compact- Spring Update

1963 Shasta Camper Trailer What did we do every weekend in March?  On Saturday we worked on remodeling our Shasta Compact.  On Sunday we worked on remodeling our Shasta Compact.  What did we do every weekend in April?  I think you get the point Cecilia needed a bit of a face-lift!  The plan was to get a coat of paint on the exterior, but that fell through.  We really need to find an indoor space or open area to paint in.  Our neighborhood is less than ideal.  Here is a look at what we accomplished instead.
