In this article, I mentioned that my hot pot was always on the counter when we are camping. Since I use it so often, it seems fitting that my beloved hot pot should have a post. So, here I am with 5 Ways I Used my Hot Pot in One Day.
I cooked oatmeal
Chris and I eat oatmeal for breakfast at least 5 days a week. When we are camping, we get a little more exciting and branch out into the world of bacon, egg, and cheese croissants. A cinnamon roll or two might even pass our lips, but after a couple of days we want our oatmeal. At home, I make it with almond milk. While camping, I use water.
I made Coffee
We have tried coffee so many different ways on our camping trips. Our latest discovery, pour-over coffee, is a favorite for both of us. We are new to the process and we are still getting the hang of it. We never fail to produce a decent cup of coffee though. If you haven’t heard of making pour-over coffee or dripper cups, check out this tutorial on Youtube. We got our cup here.
I Cooked Brown Rice
Cooking rice in the hot pot was a first time experience. I’m happy to report the rice turned out great. It was a little messy, but I would do it again.
I Heated Canned soup
(Skip this paragraph if you want to avoid a short, unnecessary rant). Here’s the thing about soup. It isn’t pretty. I’ve never looked at a photo of soup and thought, “Wow, that is gorgeous.” It actually looks gross, no matter what filter you throw on it. Don’t even get me started on chili. All this to say, there is no photo of my actual soup on this blog.
On this rainy day, I heated a can of soup for my dinner since campfire cooking was out of the question.
I Washed Dishes
We always wash dishes outside the camper. We set up 3 bins; one for washing, one for rinsing, and one for drying. Boiling water from the hot pot is mixed with cold water in the wash and rinse bins. Easy peasy.
