Last summer, we added the Lucid 3″ Memory Foam Cool Gel Mattress Topper to our camper’s arsenal. I knew I was going to love it the minute it arrived, but I decided to hold off on singing my praises until I had actually clocked a few hours on it.
The reason we purchased it was because we had a week long camping trip coming up. Cecilia’s bed was always great for one or two nights, but on the 3rd night, you started to feel your age. Her cushions are oddly comfortable until they aren’t. I don’t know how else to explain it.
We knew if we were going to spend a week on that bed, we needed a little extra support. Enter the 3″ Lucid Memory Foam Cool Gel Mattress Topper. Say that one 3 times fast!
I woke up after the 3rd night of our camping trip and realized that I had slept through the night. The Lucid mattress topper took our little bed from okay to glorious. We were both amazed at how comfortable we were. Before, we woke up with hip pain or general stiffness. That was no longer an issue!
I’ve never slept on memory foam before this. When we made this purchase, I worried that we would need the 4″ mattress topper. I’m really glad we went with the 3 inch. This is really soft and cushiony. I think if it were any thicker, it would be difficult to roll out of bed. If you haven’t slept on memory foam before, there is a lot of sinking into the mattress going on.
The cooling gel is nice too. I decided to go with this feature after reading reviews from people who had experience sleeping on memory foam toppers. Several people said that they found the memory foam too hot without the gel feature.
After sleeping on it for a week, I came home and purchased another one for my bed. We have been sleeping on it for 3 months now and we still love it. In short, this is the best purchase we have made for the inside of our little vintage Shasta. I feel like the lack of comfort our bed gave us made it hard to imagine going on long trips. Now, I’m ready to spend two weeks sitting by the lake in our vintage trailer. Spring fever has arrived!
